Why I'm passionate about this cause

Before October 7th, I co-founded a venture philanthropy fund as my way of giving back in my free time. But after October 7th, everything shifted. I experienced discrimination within my own organization, which forced me to resign. I faced anti-semitism amongst my peers, showing me the fear amongst my Jewish friends. I took this moment to realign my priorities, shifting 100% of my philanthropic efforts to serving our community.

As a Birthright Excel Fellow (2017), I was invested in by our people. It was time to honor that investment. I refocused my work on building Jewish community, serving as a lay-leader for numerous organizations, and now empowering Jewish institutions to thrive in the digital age.

My work with Jewish institutions

Leadership & Recognition

  • JUF 36 Under 36 Recognition - Leader in Chicago's Jewish community
  • Birthright Distinguished Alumni - Honored for my work in Chicago's community
  • Birthright Excel Fellow (2017) - 5% acceptance rate into this meaningful community
  • Weizmann Institute - Chicago's point of contact for community building & event organization
  • Chicago Nova Exhibit Board Member - Leading the under 30 community engagement
  • Third Space - Co-founded Mem Global's initiative to support Jewish social innovation
  • One8 Foundation - Research Board Member
  • Chai Chi Founder - Founded a social organization that has engaged 2,000+ young Jews

I've been inside these institutions. I've seen the pains.

I've watched talented staff spend 8 hours on tasks that AI could do in minutes: manually processing donations, formatting newsletters, updating member databases.

I've seen donors walk away because of poor digital experiences: clunky donation forms, broken event registration, emails that look like they're from 2005.

I've witnessed the next generation disconnect because we're not meeting them where they are: on their phones, through AI assistants, with instant responses.

A Real-Life Use Case

Birthright Excel's Community Newsletter

I was able to learn the flow of their newsletter creation process, understanding what information was pulled from what sources to deliver their weekly insight. I took this knowledge and built an automated workflow to streamline this tedious operation.

Before Newsletter Automation

  • ⏱️ Time: ~4 hours per week
  • 💵 Employee Hourly Cost: ~$300 per newsletter
  • 📅 Employee Annual Cost: Over $15,500 per year
  • ⌛ Total: 200+ hours of employee time

After Newsletter Automation

  • ⏱️ Time: ~10 minutes per week
  • 💵 Employee Hourly Cost: ~$12 per newsletter
  • 📅 Employee Annual Cost: ~$650 per year
  • ⌛ Total: ~10.5 hours of employee time

The Impact

Saving not only ~$15,000 per year but also ~190 hours of time to focus on higher-impact initiatives that truly serve their community.

While my heart is with Jewish institutions, Aloa has a proven track record of AI innovation across industries.
